“BY YOUR PATIENCE P0SSESS YOUR SOULS”
Luke 21:1-19, Mark 12:41-44
I. The value of a gift is determined by two things:
1) The spirit in which it is given. 2) There is the sacrifice in which it is given.II. The tidings of trouble to come (5-24).
1) There are four concepts this section reveals:•The day of the Lord.•The prophecy of the fall of Jerusalem.•The Second Coming of Christ.•The persecution to come.III. Josephus wrote of what the temple looked like in the time of Christ:
•Jesus could read the signs of history. •Jesus was completely honest.•Jesus promised that His disciples would never meet their tribulations alone.•Jesus spoke of a safety that overshadows the threats of earth, “to him who overcomes.” •The person who walks with Christ may lose his life but he will never lose his soul!IV.Since trouble will come; therefore watch! (25-38).
